I joined 1&1 as a working student at the beginning of 2013. In 2017, I was given the opportunity to take over the iOS Mail team with around 5 million daily users as Product Manager. It’s really inspiring to be involved in creating a product that’s so important to so many people in their daily lives. In my role, I act as an interface between the team and our customers and internal stakeholders – my daily work is extremely varied with new challenges all the time.
I’m an Artificial Intelligence Expert at Mail & Media and have been establishing the topics of machine learning and AI here for 13 years now. I started in 2008 as a Data Scientist with the development of the first machine learning product, Target Group Planning. As a line manager, from 2011 to 2018, I helped build an organizational structure that supports the development of AI products and leverages the topic of data science for our company. As an expert, I manage a central Data Science Competence Center, which facilitates the sharing of AI knowledge across the organization. I also support both product development using artificial intelligence and its technical and methodological implementation in the operational teams.
During my studies, I started my own web and media design company and was able to gather valuable marketing experience in the industry early on in my career.
As a qualified information manager, I’ve been working for United Internet Media in various product and technology areas since 2011. Today, I’m Head of Programmatic, Yield & Ad Technology. In addition to classic yield topics, I’m responsible for the continuous expansion of the programmatic sales channel.
In 2018, I’d just started my master’s degree in Controlling when I was given the opportunity to gain some first experience in a corporate environment as a working student at Mail & Media. I was soon given my first tasks, and shortly after I already had my own areas of responsibility. The innovative environment, the wide range of activities and my fantastic team made it easy to decide to write my master’s thesis here as well.
Today, I’m still a permanent member of the team and as a business partner for the specialist departments, I play my part in the joint success of the Controlling department.
By expanding my areas of responsibility, I was able to take the first major step and become an Advanced Controller. The next step is to participate in the Navigate development program for young professionals. This gives me the unique opportunity to work with great mentors and coaches in various camps. I’m not only learning to develop myself, but also to take on even more responsibility in the medium to long term and to be better able to meet future challenges.
I’ve always been interested in journalism and news content, even while I was still at school.
Now, as a working student, I can learn alongside experienced editors, gain important experience, and create my own first content. The friendly atmosphere and mutual respect here are the perfect environment for me to develop both professionally and personally.
Six years ago, when I joined the company as a Project Manager for Operational and Analytical CRM, I was a newcomer to the industry. Today, I’m a team leader and very excited about what our journey together still has in store for us.
I gained some hands-on experience during my internship semester at Mail & Media in 2018, and then continued to support the cross-selling team as a working student. After I graduated, the opportunity opened up for me to join the company as a Junior Online Marketing Manager in the Online Sales Premium Products unit. I’ve been here two years now and what I like about my job is the ability to work independently, the trust placed in me, and my team – where I enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, mutual respect, tolerance, and appreciation.
The development of digital products has always fascinated me. As Head of Product Management Applications, I’m responsible for the cloud and email products of Germany’s largest email providers GMX and WEB.DE, as well as for the international brand mail.com. My special focus is on the further development of smart AI systems for the Intelligent Mailbox.
I’ve worked in various positions since 2000 and progressed through almost every career level during my time here at Mail & Media: from temporary helper during my studies to permanent employee, team leader, department manager, and finally to divisional manager with more than 30 employees.
The best thing has always been the pleasure I get from working here and the know-how of my colleagues. Then as now, we help users to easily integrate modern technologies into their everyday lives. That’s still a big motivating factor for me – making high-tech products easy for consumers to use.
